Tracking spiritual journeys
People rarely become Christians instantaneously. It is usually a process that research shows to average 2-3 years. Understanding the steps that people take on a spiritual journey is vital, if we are to know how to present the gospel to them at different points in their journey.
James Engel produced what is now known as the Engel Scale, to help us visualize this process. And a very significant modification of the Engel Scale, which introduces a second factor of attitude, has been proposed by Frank Gray of FEBC. This is a simple yet remarkable tool which will help any type of evangelism. It is also strategic for online outreach.
